Violent Bar Fight in Girne
A violent altercation at a Girne bar, left several injured and led to the arrest of three intoxicated individuals.
On July 22, 2024, at approximately 1:30 AM, a violent altercation occurred at a bar in Girne involving several individuals. The individuals, identified as AK (male, 25), MK (male, 46), and B.Ş.K. (male, 23), were patrons at the establishment and reportedly instigated a fight with the owner, ANÖ (male, 25), while under the influence of alcohol.
According to the police statement:
“On 22.07.2024, at around 01:30, AK (male, 25), MK (male, 46), and B.Ş.K. (male, 23), who were customers in a bar operating in Girne, physically assaulted the owner of the business, ANÖ (male, 25), causing serious injuries.
The assault was triggered by the refusal to sell alcohol to the intoxicated individuals. In the course of the altercation, the assailants deliberately damaged three bar chairs and five glass ashtrays by throwing them to the ground.
During the incident, AK also assaulted other patrons. Specifically, AK threw a chair at D.Ç. (female, 22), hitting her head, and struck DP (male, 22) on the left arm with a bottle. Additionally, AK threw a bottle at AT (female, 22), injuring her left toe. D.Ç. was subsequently taken to Dr. Suat Günsel Girne University Hospital for observation.
AK, MK, and B.Ş.K. have been arrested, and the investigation into the incident is ongoing.”
