Two Men Detained Over 70kg Drug Seizure in Limassol
The Limassol Court has ordered the seven-day detention of two men, aged 38 and 21, arrested in connection with a major drug operation involving 70 kilograms of drugs in Limassol, Southern Cyprus.
The 38-year-old suspect, initially apprehended following the drug seizure on Wednesday, faced additional charges after appearing in court yesterday. The 21-year-old suspect was arrested last night and appeared in court today after turning himself in following the issuance of an arrest warrant.
Narcotics teams discovered 10 kilograms of cannabis, 60 kilograms of edible cannabis gum, approximately half a kilogram of cannabis resin, 200 ecstasy pills, 150 grams of cocaine, and other narcotics in two suitcases found in a vehicle belonging to the 38-year-old suspect.
According to the Cyprus News Agency, tension arose in the courtroom before the hearing. Relatives of the 38-year-old suspect, who claimed that the 21-year-old had lent him the car, confronted the young man’s family.
The report indicated that the 38-year-old suspect claimed to be unaware of the drugs in his car, while the 21-year-old suspect refused to cooperate with the police.
