TUI Denies Claims of Ceasing Day Trips to Northern Cyprus Amid Greek Press Reports
German tour operator TUI has refuted claims from the Greek press that it has made an agreement with the Greek Cypriot administration to cease day trips to the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC).
“EMAIL DOES NOT REFLECT OUR POSITION”
According to the Cyprus Mail, the head of TUI’s operations in southern Cyprus did send an email to local Greek partners stating that TUI would stop selling or promoting trips to the North. However, TUI clarified that this email does not represent the company’s official stance.
In a statement to the Cyprus Mail, TUI said, “The statements made by a local employee regarding trips to Northern Cyprus, which have circulated in the media recently, do not reflect TUI Cyprus’s position in terms of content and tone.”
“EMPLOYEE WARNED IN THE SOUTH”
The statement further mentioned that TUI, as a global entity, supports change and cooperation. The operations manager in Southern Cyprus has been “warned not to make unapproved statements that misrepresent the company’s position.”
“GUESTS CAN STILL VISIT THE NORTH”
TUI emphasized, “Of course, guests are free to choose the excursions and activities they want during their holiday in Cyprus. They can select from numerous excursion packages that include Northern Cyprus.”
