TRNC Condemns Southern Cyprus Arrests
The recent arrests targeting investors in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) by authorities in Southern Cyprus were the central focus of a comprehensive evaluation meeting chaired by Prime Minister Ünal Üstel.
The meeting was attended by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Tourism, Environment, and Culture Fikri Ataoğlu, Minister of Internal Affairs Dursun Oğuz, Turkish Cypriot Construction Contractors Association President Cafer Gürcafer, as well as investors, lawyers, and bureaucrats.
During the meeting, participants delved into the legal and economic implications of the arrests. They evaluated the potential impact of these actions by the Greek Cypriot Administration of Southern Cyprus (GCASC) on the Turkish Cypriot community in Northern Cyprus.
Additionally, the discussion included potential countermeasures the TRNC could adopt in response to what were viewed as actions by the Greek Cypriot side that lacked good faith.
