TRNC Celebrates Cyprus Peace Operation 50th Anniversary
Today, TRNC commemorates the 50th anniversary of the Cyprus Peace Operation with dignitaries from Türkiye and a variety of festive events.
Today marks the 50th anniversary of the Cyprus Peace Operation, with a variety of events planned to commemorate this significant milestone.
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, along with Numan Kurtulmuş, Speaker of the Turkish Grand National Assembly, cabinet members, political party representatives, and numerous Turkish parliamentarians, will participate in the celebrations taking place in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC).
According to reports from an AA correspondent, the TRNC will hold impressive array of festivities. The celebrations will feature special concerts by military and Janissary bands, sports competitions, conferences, seminars, symposiums, and essay contests.
A highlight of the celebrations will be a ceremony showcasing Türkiye’s first aircraft carrier, the TCG Anadolu. The TCG Anadolu, along with several other naval vessels, will participate in a grand parade.
Additionally, the Turkish Stars and SOLOTÜRK aerobatic teams are scheduled to perform today, July 20.
State Officials in the TRNC
President Erdoğan, Speaker Kurtulmuş, cabinet members, political party representatives, and numerous members of parliament will be present for the celebrations in the TRNC. Kurtulmuş will be accompanied by members of the Presidency Council of the Grand National Assembly of Türkiye and Deputy Group Chairmen.
Republican People’s Party (CHP) Chairman Özgür Özel will also attend the events, joined by 174 Cyprus veterans, Central Executive Board members, and numerous MPs. Special guests include Prof. Dr. Ayşe Güneş Ayata, daughter of former Minister of Foreign Affairs Turan Güneş—who famously coined the slogan “Ayşe should go on vacation” during the Cyprus Peace Operation—and former Minister of Labor Önder Sav.
In addition to President Erdoğan, Nationalist Movement Party (MHP) Chairman Devlet Bahçeli, Democratic Left Party (DSP) Chairman Önder Aksakal, and Great Unity Party (BBP) Chairman Mustafa Destici will also be in attendance, marking this momentous occasion.
