Three-Letter Plates Starts From September
New three-letter vehicle plates, starting with “AAA 001,” will be introduced by September due to the increased number of vehicles on the road.
The era of two-letter license plates for vehicles is coming to a close. By the end of September, the new three-letter plates will be introduced, with the inaugural plate being “AAA 001.”
This change is driven by the significant increase in the number of vehicles on the road, which has nearly exhausted the supply of new two-letter plates. Consequently, the decision has been made to transition to three-letter plates.
Minister of Public Works and Transportation, Erhan Arıklı, announced that this new system will be implemented by the end of September.
In his statement, Minister Arıklı mentioned that the letters “YP” will be used on the plates starting Friday. He confirmed that the aim is to complete the switch to three-letter plates by the end of September, and that the first plate issued under this new system will be “AAA 001.” Minister Arıklı expressed his best wishes for this new phase.
