Dalman Aydın, Director of the Cyprus Turkish Electricity Authority (KIB-TEK), announced that the energy investment planned for the Yeniboğaziçi region has been halted following a decision by the Yeniboğaziçi Municipality Council.

In a written statement, Aydın explained that the energy investment, initiated under the leadership of Prime Minister Ünal Üstel, had successfully completed the tender process and was ready to commence infrastructure work. However, the project has been stalled due to the Municipality Council’s refusal to approve the necessary lands.

“It will not be possible to strengthen the region’s energy infrastructure,” Aydın stated, emphasizing that the project’s goal was to provide the public with more reliable and uninterrupted energy. He warned that the council’s decision could prevent improvements to the energy infrastructure, potentially leading to issues such as power outages and an inability to meet new energy demands.

Aydın expressed hope that the local community would understand the implications of the current situation. He urged the Yeniboğaziçi Municipality to reconsider its decision and take necessary steps to allow KIB-TEK to proceed with its investments, ensuring the public’s right to receive essential services is not hindered.
