Groundbreaking for Lefkoşa Northern Ring Road Cloverleaf Junction Marks Major Infrastructure Milestone
The groundbreaking ceremony for the cloverleaf junction at the intersection of the Lefkoşa Northern Ring Road and the Lefkoşa Girne Main Road took place, attended by Türkiye’s Minister of Transport and Infrastructure, Abdulkadir Uraloğlu.
Speeches were delivered by various officials, including the General Director of the Highways Department Ahmet Gülşen, Minister of Public Works and Transportation Erhan Arıklı, and President Ersin Tatar. Gülşen provided technical details of the ongoing 4.6 km section of the 20 km Lefkoşa Northern Ring Road project, aimed at alleviating city traffic.
Minister Arıklı emphasized that the project would greatly ease traffic at the Gönyeli Roundabout and predicted its completion by April. Minister Uraloğlu noted that the entire ring road would reduce travel time from 21 to 9 minutes, saving over 1.3 billion liras annually.
Uraloğlu also highlighted other significant projects, including the Eastern Mediterranean Vessel Traffic Services System, which is expected to boost Türkiye’s and the TRNC’s dominance in the region by 2026. He reaffirmed Türkiye’s commitment to supporting the TRNC’s infrastructure and economic growth.
