Fire in Hamitköy apartment causes significant damage; one person hospitalized. Investigation into cause and extent of fire continues.
A fire broke out yesterday on the third floor of an apartment building in Hamitköy, resulting in one person being taken to the hospital.
According to a statement from the police:
“On July 16, 2024, at approximately 20:00, a fire erupted in a flat on the third floor of an apartment building on Neşe Street in Hamitköy. The fire is believed to have started due to electrical plugs connected to a socket multiplier overheating and igniting.
The Fire Department Teams successfully extinguished the blaze. The fire caused significant damage, burning the bed and mattress, various furniture and white goods, and the sliding PVC balcony door and windows. Additionally, all the walls of the flat were affected by smoke damage.
A male resident of the apartment, who was impacted by the smoke, was transported to Lefkoşa Dr. Burhan Nalbantoğlu State Hospital for observation. The investigation remains ongoing.”
Authorities are continuing their investigation into the cause and extent of the fire.
