In a coordinated drug bust, police searched a Range Rover near the “Gate Bar” in Girne and discovered approximately 2.5 grams of cocaine packaged for sale. The suspect, identified as GG, has been arrested and brought to court on charges of illegal possession of drugs.

During the court hearing, Police Officer Berk Çakır provided a detailed account of the incident. Acting on a tip-off, police conducted a search on July 16, 2024, at approximately 01:45 AM. The search of the suspect’s Range Rover, bearing license plate MK 400, revealed the illicit substances. The drugs, believed to be cocaine, were found in the center console of the vehicle, packaged in four separate parcels inside a black Ray-Ban glasses case.

Following the initial discovery, police arrested the suspect at the scene. A subsequent search of GG’s residence on the same day led to the seizure of additional drugs. Authorities confiscated approximately 4 grams of a substance believed to be cocaine, around 0.5 grams of a substance suspected to be cannabis found in two grinders, and one precision scale.

Police Officer Çakır informed the court that further statements need to be taken and that the seized substances will be sent for analysis. Given the ongoing investigation, the police requested that the suspect be detained for an additional three days.

After reviewing the testimony and evidence, Judge Murat Soytaç ruled in favor of the police’s request. The suspect will remain in police custody for an additional three days to facilitate the investigation.
