Fire Department Ban All Outdoor Fire Activities Until October 31.
Learn essential fire prevention tips from the Fire Department to stay safe this summer. Report fires immediately to ALO 199, 177, or 155.
The Fire Department has issued a reminder about essential precautions to prevent fires, which tend to increase with rising temperatures.
In the statement titled “Taking precautions in time is easier than extinguishing a fire,” the Department emphasized the importance of immediate reporting to the ALO 199 Fire Department Fire Reporting Line, ALO 177 Forest Fire Reporting Line, or 155 Police Emergency Line if signs of fire or smoke are observed.
Key measures shared by the Fire Department include:
- From May 1st to October 31st, all types of fires, even for cleaning purposes, are strictly prohibited. Unauthorized fires can easily get out of control.
- Do not discard cigarette butts on roadsides, in forest areas, garbage bins, or near flammable materials without ensuring they are completely extinguished.
- Report any transformer centers, electric poles, wires that may touch, or tree branches that could fall on wires to the 188 Electricity Fault Reporting Line.
- Avoid plugging high-current devices (e.g., irons, refrigerators, hair dryers) into multiple sockets to reduce fire risk.
- Prune tree branches that contact electrical wires, ensuring the power is off and the area is cleared of dry grass. Fire extinguishing equipment should be on hand.
- If you suspect a gas leak, do not use electrical outlets or enter with spark-producing devices. Turn off electricity at the switch, open doors and windows, and ventilate the area.
- Regularly service and maintain vehicles, including public transport and agricultural vehicles, to prevent fuel leaks, short circuits, and exhaust-related fires.
- Keep fire extinguishers in vehicles and homes, and learn how to use them to prevent fires from spreading.
- Report any signs of smoke or fire immediately to the 199 Fire Department Reporting Line, 177 Forest Fire Reporting Line, or 155 Police Emergency Line.
